Refreshed By Repentance

We normally grit our teeth, harden our necks and resist repentance. We would rather do almost anything than repent of our sin. We are normally foolish. Repentance brings us many blessings. It enables us to be refreshed from the presence of the Lord. Being refreshed from the presence of the Lord cannot be compared with any other refreshing we have ever tasted or experienced. When we are at peace with our Creator, in His presence and in His will, the refreshing is beyond explanation or description.

Acts 3:19: Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

I am so glad that word times is plural. I had the best and most important time of refreshing the day I received Jesus and since then I have had more times of refreshing than I could ever recount. How about you?

Our flesh is not the cause of repentance. God wants to give it to us and we must come to it. We need to follow Him and obey Him when He reproves us of sin.

2 Timothy 2:24-26: And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Mathew 9:13: But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

2 Peter 3:9: The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

John 6:37: All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

When we come to Jesus we come to repentance. If we have not come to repentance, we have not come to Jesus. For unbelievers, coming to repentance is a part of becoming a Christian. For Christians repentance should be a way of life, something they live in. We should come to it and we should stay there. Have you noticed how refreshing it is to get rid of sin?
